Baked Lentil Falafel

This is a quick and easy way to prepare falafel. Its flavourful, oil free and a perfect starter to please a health freak gathering.


1 cup channa dal (split chickpeas)

1 onion diced

curry leaves - a few sprigs

1 tsp fennel seeds

salt and green chillies to taste

Soak channa dal for a couple of hours. Drain water and in a blender, add them along with green chillies, curry leaves, fennel seeds and salt. Blend coarsely. Add the chopped onion and mix well. Lay the baking paper on a baking tin. Roll the dough and pat them flat.

Bake at 170C until the top turns golden brown. It takes anywhere between 20-25 mins.

Serve with green chutney or any other condiment.
